North Coast Community Homes
“In 2008 North Coast Community Homes will be developing up to 12 additional properties, including a nine-unit apartment building in Akron, a licensed facility in Oakwood Village, and 6 to 8 rental properties in Cuyahoga Country. We are also working with a family in Stark County and a guardian in Lake County who want to build their own homes.
The development of a property usually starts two to three years prior to when the tenants actually move into their home. We begin with funding plans and with learning about the special needs of each tenant. Next we work with realtors and occasionally municipal officials in the selection of properties. When extensive renovations are required, especially in the development of fully accessible homes, we work with architects in drawing up building specifications and renovation plans. Outside contractors are hired to do the renovation work.
On the day tenants move into their new home, the maintenance and upkeep of the home begins. We work to keep our homes safe, comfortable and neighborhood friendly with well maintained home exteriors and landscaping.”
