The Annual Meeting of North Coast Community Homes was held at Windows On The River on December 7, 2009 with 330 people in attendance. The State of the Agency was presented by Gary Shamis, 2009 NCCH Board of Trustees Chairperson. Greetings were brought by Armond Budish, Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, 128th General Assembly.
The Annual Meeting is a time to reflect on the work North Coast Community Homes performs in partnership with the Cuyahoga, Lake, and Stark County Boards of Developmental Disabilities, as well as with the Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board. We feel fortunate to be able to work with these fine agencies in developing and maintaining homes for the people with disabilities that they support.
The Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, Jr. was the keynote speaker who spoke about "Mental Illness: A Family and A Community Affair". Rev. Moss was honored with the 2009 Community Service Award in recognition of his life long involvement in advocating for civil and human rights and on social justice issues.
Ian and Gloria Abrams were honored as the Above & Beyond Award recipients. Ian has served on the Board of Trustees of North Coast Community Homes for six years and Gloria has been an active member of North Coast Neighbors, the volunteer group of NCCH.
North Coast Community Homes thanks The Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation for its sponsorship of this event.
