Collaboration Brings Needed Support

Work on Strongsville home

Work in progress on home in Strongsville.

Collaboration was a key factor in obtaining needed funding in the total amount of $200,000 from the private sector for the development of special needs properties for people with disabilities in Cuyahoga County.

North Coast Community Homes coordinated the funding through three Cleveland based foundations that agreed to share the cost. The Cleveland Foundation granted $100,000 for this project, the Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation granted $50,000 and the David and Inez Myers Foundation granted the remaining $50,000. These grants were awarded in 2010 and development of the homes will begin in 2011.

Tenants for these new properties will be selected by the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilites, which will also coordinate their personal care needs with residential care providers.
