North Coast Community Homes Continues to be Environmental Proactive...

green vehicles

The greening of North Coast Community Homes was initiated with a recycling program at the home office. Paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and corrugated cardboard are collected and then transported to recycling centers. As older vans used by our maintenance staff members require replacement, we are now purchasing smaller, lighter vans that are more efficient in fuel use. The new software/decentralized management system now in place in the Property Development and Maintenance Department has immediately reduced our use of paper and the integrated GPS system allows us to plan more fuel efficient transportation routes to and from the houses we service. The grass around the office is being cut less often and peripheral areas are being returned to their native state for wildlife use. The collection of rain water for watering of the landscape is being planned.

In the homes North Coast Community Homes develops for people with disabilities, energy star appliances are installed. And, as older toilets need to be replaced, low flow toilets are being installed.

Our environmental mission is to strive to use development and operating practices that protect our environment in a manner that is reasonable, responsible, practical and affordable.
