On May 11, 2010 over 700 people made use of free services that were made available to those in need in the Akron/Summit County area. This community wide effort brought together providers in one location for one day to assist those experiencing homelessness. Services provided included dental care, legal assistance, mammogram screenings, HIV/AIDS testing, prostrate cancer testing, job placement services, housing placement applications, clothing, meals, hair cuts, and many health screening services.
Three people from North Coast Community Homes volunteered. "It truly was an amazing time," was the response of one of these volunteers. She was able to assist three people to find the services they needed. She found each of the people very appreciative of everyone's support.
