Funding has been appoved by The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board in Summit County for North Coast Community Homes (NCCH) to hire two full time maintenance staff members who will assist tenants with severe mental illness with the upkeep of their apartment units. Many of NCCH Summit County tenants are living in their first home after living on the streets for most of their lives. Living on the street does not train anyone in the care of a home, so NCCH has found that when a tenant moves out of one of our units in Summit County that a full remodeling of the unit is required before a new tenant moves in.

It is hoped that with regular maintenance assistance that NCCH properties will receive better care and therefore be less costly to maintain. This new program will be in place in mid-2010.
