Annual Meeting, 2006

The 2006 Annual Meeting of North Coast Community Homes, attended by 415 people, was opened by Dick Russ, Managing Editor of WKYC-TV. Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones brought greetings from the Cuyahoga County Commissioners. Charles N. Bush, Ph.D., Chairman of the NCCH Board of Trustees, reported on the state of the agency. Mike Clegg was the keynote speaker, who gave a moving presentation about “Growing Up With A Disabled Child”. Three NCCH tenants, Paul Landis, Robin Lee and Gloria Kwiatkowski, were on hand to help greet everyone who attended this meeting.
Each year North Coast Communtiy Homes is pleased to present the Above & Beyond Award and the Community Service Award to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution in the field of mental retardation/developmental disabilities and mental health.
The Above & Beyond Award is given to a person or persons connected on some level with NCCH and who have engaged in at least one activity designed to improve the quality of life for one or more persons with disabilities. This year the honorees were Michael A. Clegg and John R. Climaco, Esq. Both of these men have been long time advocates for the rights of individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities (mr/dd) and have made significant contributions to the field of mr/dd in Northeastern Ohio.
The Community Service Award recognizes an individual or organization that has contributed to improving the quality of life for individuals with mr/dd and other disabilities. Margaret (Peg) Clark Morgan, founder of The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation, has worked to improve mental health practices in Northeast Ohio through effective investment in progressive organizations and innovative initiatives that raise the standards of prevention, treatment, recovery and housing.
